WhatsApp intends to introduce more biometric security layers

According to Android Police, WhatsApp users will soon be able to biometrically lock specific messages, closing what some consider to be a security hole in Meta's well-known messaging service that prides itself on its privacy protections.

You can unlock WhatsApp with a passcode, fingerprint, or face. However, subscribers are unable to lock specific chat threads using biometrics. That could change with the upcoming Play Store update, version 2.23.8.2, which is said to include a setting that will allow users to lock and hide chats using a fingerprint or passcode.

Those who believe in the app's exceptional security, as maintained by Meta, will be happy to hear the news. It comes with a fingerprint lock, end-to-end encryption, and two-factor authentication. Mark Zuckerberg, CEO of Meta, wrote on Instagram in October that "WhatsApp is far more private and secure than iMessage," Apple's instant messaging service. However, WhatsApp has fallen behind rivals like Telegram in implementing cutting-edge biometric features.
